How Much Does a Vehicle Wrap Cost?

How Much Does a Car Wrap Cost?

The short answer – about $3,000-$5,000 for a full wrap on an SUV-style vehicle. The long answer – it depends!

Calculating the Cost of a Vehicle Wrap

When we custom quote your vehicle wrap, first we determine the following:

  • Square footage of the vehicle’s exterior
  • Your ideal design
  • The condition of your vehicle

While you can bank on an average of $3,000-5,000 per vehicle, most of our contracts are custom quoted, and there are many factors that make up the total cost.

Factors that Impact the Cost of a Vehicle Wrap

Type of Vehicle

We have experience wrapping vehicles of all kinds including cruise ships, snowcats, RVs, food trucks, vans, trucks, racecars, motorcycles, and even bicycles! A good rule of thumb – the bigger your vehicle, the costlier it is to wrap.

Customizations

All vehicle wraps are customized to some extent, but we generally start each quote by turning to our library of templates. These scaled, lined drawings of common vehicles help give us a good idea of your vehicle’s size, which helps us determine how much material it takes to cover your vehicle.

However, our catalog may not have details on rare vehicles, which means we must measure your vehicle. For example, we recently wrapped a vintage military Humvee, which was not in our library. The project took a considerable amount of time and resources, which drove up costs. But it was well worth it!

Design

The vehicle wrap design will have a direct impact on the total cost. If you are looking for an intricate design, or a design that requires the use of several layers of material, the costs will likely increase.

Vehicle Condition

The condition of your vehicle can also impact the total cost. For example, best practices recommend not wrapping over rust spots or body damage. When a vehicle in less than stellar condition comes in, we may have to get creative with our designs, which can leads to increased costs.

Pro Tip: While wraps are not meant to cover rust patches or body damage, they can serve as a paint replacement, and are a great way to cover scratches!

Vehicle Wraps on a Budget

If you don’t have $3000-$5,000 to spend on a vehicle wrap, most reputable companies (… like Harmonic Media … hey-ooooooo!) will be willing to get creative with your solution, and work within your budget.

Partial Wraps

A partial wrap can be just as effective as a full wrap, at a fraction of the cost. For example, since no one is really going to see your roof, you could choose not to wrap it. We also help service companies cut costs by wrapping only the back half of their vehicle.

Laminating

We typically recommend laminating any material prior to application. However, if you are wrapping your vehicle for promotional campaign with a timeframe of less than a month, you may be able to save on laminating costs. Vehicles with flat surfaces, such as a box truck, may be good candidates for skipping the lamination step altogether.

Keep it Simple

The more complex and intricate a design is, the most expensive it will be. If you are ok with keeping your message simple, we can design with that in mind!

Proper Maintenance

At some point, your vehicle wrap will need to be removed, which is billed at an hourly rate. A well-maintained wrap can be removed in 30 minutes or less because the panels can be removed in large strips. On the other hand, a wrap that hasn’t been maintained ends up flaking off in fingernail-sized chips and takes up to a day to remove.

Good rule of thumb: Keep your eye on it and use us as a resource for questions you might have about the remaining life of your vehicle graphics.
